Here are answers to some of the questions we’re often asked about Shine, how we work, and the support we provide. If you need anything further, just get in touch - we’re here to help.

General

This section covers the general questions we’re often asked about how Shine operates day-to-day. From admissions and transport, to uniforms and who we support, these answers help give a clear picture of what families can expect when joining Shine.
Are you a special needs nursery?
We are an inclusive mainstream nursery, but our staff are experienced and highly trained in special educational needs.
Can a child / young person apply if they reside outside of Norfolk?
For the Nursery, yes. For Short Breaks this is unlikely but please enquire with your local authority.
Do you provide transport?
We ask parent & carers to ensure they are able to drop off and collect their child / young person.
Is a uniform required?
We encourage all children & young people to wear clothing they are comfortable in and don’t mind getting messy!

Nursery

This section answers common questions about our Nursery, including who we cater for, what a typical day looks like, and how families can apply for a space. From session times and lunches to funding information, these details help parents understand how our Nursery operates and what to expect when joining.
What is the age range that the Nursery caters for?
The Nursery caters for children between the age of 2 and 4.
How much are Nursery sessions & how do I apply for funding?
For pricing & funding eligibility details please see the Fees & Finance section of our Nursery page. 
What are your session times?
Session timings are flexible between 8:30am-4:30pm, please enquire directly.
Do you provide lunches at the Nursery?
We ask parents & carers to provide a lunch box for their child if they attend sessions over lunchtime. We provide healthy snacks twice a day and milk and water is available.
How do I apply for a space?
Please contact us for a tour of our nursery, meet our team and obtain a registration pack. Please be aware we often have a waiting list for spaces.
Do you take school deferrals?
Due to our capacity and level of enquiries we are unable to accommodate deferred children.
If my child attends your nursery will they get a specialist school place?
Attendance at Shine does not automatically guarantee a specialist school place - however our team will support you to apply.

Short Breaks

This section answers common questions about our Short Breaks play schemes, including age ranges, how sessions run, what to expect day-to-day and how to apply. It provides families with a clear overview of how our sessions operate and the support offered to children and young people during term time and holidays.
What is the age range that Short Breaks cater for?
Our Saturday and Holiday play schemes offer spaces for children and young people between the ages of 5 and 17. Our Youth Club offers spaces for children and young people who are between the ages of 8 and 17.
How much are Short Breaks & how do I apply for funding?
For pricing & funding eligibility details please refer to the Norfolk Country Council website. For details regarding private payments please contact us directly. 
What are your session times?
Saturday  sessions run during term time, 10am-3pm.
Holiday sessions run Monday-Friday during school holidays (excluding the Christmas period), 10am-3pm
Youth Club sessions run Friday nights during term time, 6-8:30pm.
Do you provide lunches at Short Breaks?
For our Saturday & Holiday Schemes we ask parents or carers to provide a lunch box for their child / young person. A range of water, squash and milk is available.

For our Youth Club – we don’t ask parents or carers to provide any food for their child / young person, the group have a cooking activity most sessions and a range of drinks are available.
